Pumpkin Carving Safety

The season has changed from the hot and sticky summer to cooler, milder, more festive fall.

At this time of the year there are many things to look forward to and enjoy – the changing and falling of the leaves, football, and of course pumpkin decorating.

The following are some tips to practice for a safe, pumpkin- carving fun.

1.       Parental Guidance -Children should always have an adult to assist them to clean out the pumpkins, and especially using sharp utensils.

2.       Tools – there are many types of pumpkin carving kits available now that help eliminate injury and to ensure that you have a very unique pumpkin to display.

3.       Waste Not – Want Not: The pumpkin’s “insides” are very useful. You can roast the seeds and eat them, as well as, make a homemade pumpkin pie or delicious pumpkin pancakes!

We’d love to see what you come up with as you decorate.  Carve your pumpkin and share your pictures to us as well as your favorite pumpkin carving memory.
