The Thanksgiving Holiday is right around the corner. In seven days, many of us will be feasting on turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot buttery rolls, and who can forget the cranberry sauce or pies?

The novelty phenomenon known as the deep fried turkey has already become a tradition in many families.  While the taste is absolutely sensational, many people have actually been harmed or had their homes remodeled by an uninvited fire. 

Trick or Treating Safety

Halloween is the time of year for scaring and being scared.  Although the night has traditionally been reserved for ghouls, goblins, and ghosts, you should also remember to be safe to avoid any harm or danger.

Here are a few safety tips to consider as your make your way around your neighborhood or at a fall carnival.

1 – Be Visible. Always make sure that other drivers or trick- or- treaters can see you. Bring a flashlight and/or wear reflective clothing.

Pumpkin Carving Safety

 The season has changed from the hot and sticky summer to cooler, milder, more festive fall.

At this time of the year there are many things to look forward to and enjoy – the changing and falling of the leaves, football, and of course pumpkin decorating.

The following are some tips to practice for a safe, pumpkin- carving fun.

1.       Parental Guidance -Children should always have an adult to assist them to clean out the pumpkins, and especially using sharp utensils.

Door Weather-Stripping 101


An inexpensive way to keep out rain, water, insects, and the outside elements is by sealing drafts and holes around the door frames using weather- stripping.  Below are some basic steps to follow.

First: Get A Helper And a Flashlight- Go outside and shine a flashlight on the sides and the top of the door from outside your home. If your partner can see the light from the flashlight, you will need to replace the weather-stripping.
